From the Top Turnbuckle: RAW 9/6/10 Review

Posted by Drkstlkr7 in Untagged

Drkstlkr7

Welcome to the first official review for "From the Top Turnbuckle". Last week featured a disastrous WWE RAW. A RAW so bad, it made iMPACT look watchable in comparison. (iMPACT had a couple of wrestling matches in it. It beat RAW by default.) Tonight is the time to bounce back. Now that the show will only have the RAW superstars as opposed to having Smackdown and NXT ones, there should be no excuses for lousy booking and wrestling. Without further adieu, let's take a look at the September 9th, 2010 edition of Monday Night RAW.

Nexus is already in the ring as soon as the show begins. Wade Barret starts off talking about how they destroyed The Undertaker. After a brief clip, the other members of Nexus start to assault us with their horrible mic skills. Really, why must they speak? It's so bad that the sound of Randy Orton's theme when he enters the arena sounds like everyone's favorite song. The crowd is absolutely high on Orton. I never thought I would see Randy Orton as the top face on RAW. After a bit of smack talk between Barret and Orton, the mystery General Manager via Michael Cole announces John Cena vs. Justin Gabriel and Randy Orton vs. Wade Barret and bans the rest of Nexus from the ring tonight.

Our first match of the night is between Chris Jericho and John Morrison. Because of Jericho acting like a bitch and leaving the main event match last week, the GM says that if he and Edge don't win their matches tonight they will be taken out of the six-pack challenge at Night of Champions. The match goes on for one minute and we then have 3 minutes of commercials. Who the hell planned this? After a pretty good match...John Morrison wins with Starship Pain!? Oh...wow...Didn't see that coming. Morrison won a match. An important one, too. This means that Jericho will not be in the WWE Championship match at Night of Champions. Jericho, looking convincingly sad and with some support from the crowd (Y2J chants) he sulks out of the arena. Now that's how you act. I actually felt sorry for this character.

Next we have a match for the Diva's championship between Melina and Alicia Fox. Before the match, Fox cuts a small promo about her becoming the "Undefined" (Botch) Diva's champion. The commentators call her out on it too as well as a botch of their own. Lulz. After a typical Diva's fare, Melina pins Fox after a Sunset Split to retain the title.

There are two very funny promos next. One featuring Edge and Zack Ryder and one with Maryse and Ted DiBiase. The next match is Justin Gabriel vs. John Cena. Id like to note that it's pretty obvious that they know only Gabriel and Barret are the only two worth a damn on Nexus thanks to tonight's booking. Cena was getting booed by a lot of the crowd tonight with a long "Let's go, Cena/Cena Sucks" chant to boot. Gabriel showed tremendous skill in the match, but was was defeated by Cena with a Top-Rope Aptitude Adjustment. Not a bad match, but it seemed like too much of a typical Cena match, despite it being a solid back and forth match. It never really felt like Gabriel was going to win, but it was far from a burial.

Next we have a promo featuring The Miz. He talks about his road to being where he is right now and being on the cover of WWE magazine. Daniel Bryan interrupts him and challenges Miz to a U.S. Title match at Night of Championship, which Miz accepts. After a small scuffle that ended with Alex Riley interfering and getting a Labell Lock from Bryan. The Miz-barring a small botch-was great in his promo, but Bryan-yikes, man... I love ya', but you've got to do better than that here.

The next match is Edge vs. (Oh fuck!) The Great Khali. Thankfully, Edge feels like I do about Khali and after mocking him outside of the ring, defeats Khali via count-out. The GM, having no mercy for my soul, restarts the match and tuns it into a over the top-rope challenge. I shall now call the GM...Satan. Edge does, thankfully, win the challenge. However, Khali goes over the top-rope himself during the match and the ref doesn't end it. Even Cole called this out. WTF? We cut to Chris Jericho, being unresponsive to interviewer, Dave Mathews. He gives a pissed off look at Morrison when John came over to talk to him, but that's it.

Our main event is Randy Orton vs. Wade Barret. Sheamus, Edge and John Cena come out before the match starts and sits with the commentators. Surprisingly, they didn't talk too much and let Cole and Lawler do their job. During a pretty solid match, Darren Young distracts Barret allowing Orton to win with the RKO. He then gives one to Young, Edge and then Sheamus. Damn! Cena enters the ring and RAW ends with the two having a stare-down.

And that's it for RAW. This was a great show. It's like they knew last week was awful so this week was damage control. We had good booking, good storytelling good matches and I just could not help but mark out at Randy Orton clearing house. I give the 9/6/10 episode of WWE RAW an easy thumbs up.

And now, for the notable superstars:
Justin Gabriel: Showed excellent ring work and I think a lot of the crowd knew it. He was one of my favorite NXT rookies and he's definitely someone to watch.
The Miz and Daniel Bryan: This will be the most interesting match at Night of Champions. Their feud has been going on for a while and I can't wait to see what happens.
Randy Orton and John Cena: Remember that really over-hyped feud they had last yer that everyone was sick of? Well now it's interesting again. With Randy Orton becoming the top face of RAW and Cena still stuck in split crowd hell, there's a whole new dynamic here. This could lead to something big for the two wrestlers and they might actually have a feud that can stand with the biggest ones from the past.

This was a great show and I really hope that the staff keeps moving to put out more quality like this. Until next time folks, this is Darc Seven saying look before you leap and... Seriously, what the hell is an "Undefined" Champion, Alicia? ;)

WWE RAW 8/30/10 Recap & Review

Posted by Drkstlkr7 in Untagged

Welcome to the WWE RAW 900th episode Spectaularamarathon review from Darc Seven's Untitled Wrestling Blog. Expect Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler to remind you over and over again. As we have witnessed, the special event episodes of RAW are usually total garbage, such as the Slammy's, the Viewer's Choice, etc. But tonight, the WWE has the chance to break that mold and give us a great show featuring talent from the whole company. Do they succeed, read on to find out.

We start off with Bret Hart coming out to thank the crowd for helping RAW to reach 900 episodes and mentions that only him and the Undertaker are the only two wrestlers in the company left from the beginning. Kane interrupts him and says that The Undertaker is no longer the powerful phenom he once was. The Hart Dynasty comes in to help Bret from a incoming chokeslam, but get their asses handed to them. Undertaker appears in the ring usung his usual lights out trick and Kane leaves the ring. The GM E-Mails and books Bret Hart vs. The Undertaker for later tonight. Clearly this won't happen since Hart can barely move, otherwise this bit of booking comes off as impending doom to me. I have to say that Kane did a very good job with this promo. Probably because he doesn't have background music with him this time. I also have to say that Bret constantly looks like he's smiling when he's not supposed to. Was he always this shitty of an actor or has it only been for the time he's been back?

Trenchcoat Anti-Critic Reviews: REPO! The Genetic Opera

If you're reading this, it means you've just watched my sorry excuse for a first episode.  During the process of making it, I was frustrated with how little of my thoughts I was able to talk about or elaborate on.  As a result, I sat down a month later to write this, a more in-depth look at my thoughts and feelings towards this unusual cult film.

So, fellow Xtremists, I present to you the accompanying article review of REPO! The Genetic Opera.

WWE RAW 8/23/10 Recap & Review

Posted by Drkstlkr7 in Untagged

Drkstlkr7

Wellcome to my review of the 8/23/10 episode of Monday Night RAW. I don't really have a particular name for it currently. But I just felt like getting my thoughts out there. This is actually my first blog on Xtreme Network, but if you're interested in some of my previous work, check out http://ds7gamestalk.blogspot.com/ for some more entries and games and other topics of interest.  So without further adieu, lets get started.

The night starts off with Sheamus putting kids in the crowd on blast, saying that they're lazy and don't do any chores or help they're family. It comes off very weak. The kids are just smiling at him; doe-eyed and all. See WWE, this is what happens when you book your champion like an obvious coward. Nobody's intimidated and nobody's convinced. The GM gives Sheamus a throne to watch matches in order for him to determine who the #1 contender for his WWE Championship should be. I'm hoping that the mystery GM is Michael Cole. The crowd already hates both of them.
